Snow and moving

The first "proper" snow :snowing: has fallen and the landscape is shimmering in a blanket of white silk. Hopefully it will stay like this until Christmas...but experience tells me that it won't, it's still fairly warm (around 0c, 32F). It's such a shame since the snow lights up the dark days we have this time of year, our days are still getting shorter. We are now down to about 5 hours of daylight (from sunrise to sunset) around Christmas Eve we'll have our shortest day, about 3 hours of daylight before darkness once again decends upon us. (boy, am i glad i live south of the artic circle, 24 hours of darkness for 2 months would have driven me crazy:crazy: )

I'm moving the rest of my furniture tomorrow and then my flat will be empty for about a week before the new owners take over next weekend. So i figured i'll be using it as a studio for the week:D

BE HAPPY FOLKS, A SMILE BRIGHTENS UP THE DAY!!!:boogie:

Almost all of our snow has turned to slush in the yard, and the roads are a mess. I just wish, if it was going to be November, that it would ACT like November!

You must be further north than we are! Our shortest winter days are about 4 hours! Right now we are at about 5 hours of daylight.

Where did you move to?

Groan.... 5 hours of daylight. It seems like that here too, but I know we do have a lot more than that. It can be so oppressive, can't it? Wishing you lightness from other sources.

Oh my gosh! 3 hours of daylight!? I cannot even imagine that!!

i'm sure our snow will turn to slush in a couple a days too, I remember when i was a kid (which isn't really that a long ago) that we had tons of snow in November!!! these days we're lucky if we get a white christmas in Oslo.

my memory might serve me wrong...we might have closer to 4 hours of sun around christmas, that would make sense as Anchorage and Oslo are practially on the same altitude (altitude/latitude i mess those up..altitude is north and south isn't it?)

I haven't actually found a new place yet... i'll be staying at my dad's for the time being until i find a place to rent, but it will be in the Oslo region.:D

it tends to be a little depressing...especially since we have a lot of overcast and foggy weather until January, then the sunny clear skies will appear and it not so bad anymore:D

 I believe the word you want is Latitude. Altitude is how high up in the sky you are. The other word is Longitude, but I am not sure which one is which as far as north and south, and east and west. I think you are right about latitude being the north and south one.

I have a friend here, whose former sister-in-law lives in Oslo, so we hear stories fairly often. It sounds like a great place to live.

Good luck finding a perfect new place to live!
